Measures to reduce the residues proceeding from
the packing processes
VIVES has recently incorporated in its new premises measures to reduce considerably the carton residues generated during the porcelain tiles production.
One of the taken measures has been to stop using carton boxes to store the tiles between the production and polish processes. The porcelain tiles that need to be polished after the production are currently stored without boxes over reusable wood pallets, avoiding the use of carton boxes. It is estimated that this measure will avoid the generation of around 54 tones of carton residues per year in our production plant.
This measure has been joined to the other actions taken previously in the packing process of ceramic tiles. The design of the box has been changed to make it lighter. In 50x50 sized floor tiles, it has been also included one extra piece per box. These measures contribute to reduce the quantity of residues generated after work use, contributing to environmental protection.
